I ordered this course for myself, and it actually has three different components to it: DVD - video, CDs - Audio, and a book. All the items are presented in three different formats. I especially liked this since sometimes it's easier for me to read it and then see, or listen to it and then read. So whatever way you learn best Jane has it covered!!

It is definately step by step, and I loved this as well. Very easy for me to bring up "baby" sort of speak from the basics to the more advanced exercises. Great Course!
